Sustainable elegance in brick aesthetics

The Sophienkontor, completed in Kiel in 2022 and located in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station, sets new standards in urban architecture. With its striking dark facade made of Wittmund clinker brick, the building blends harmoniously into the urban fabric and becomes a striking address in the city. The building structure with a striking corner tower and two wings open to the inner courtyard emphasises the combination of traditional materials with modern design. The staggered storeys offer a retreat and emphasise the green inner courtyard.

The special texture and colouring of the Wittmund clinker brick play a central role in the design of the facade, which is given visual depth through an interplay of smooth and relief-like surfaces. This choice of material not only supports the aesthetic integration of the Sophienkontor into its surroundings, but also emphasises the commitment to sustainable construction. With gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), the building represents an environmentally conscious construction method that takes ecological, economic and social aspects into account.
